What is Greenerfest? Click here to find out!
Greenerfest is a festival about going green and enjoying it.
In May of 2010, we tested the feasibility of producing a major concert festival to showcase and promote environmentally friendly products and technologies. Our goal was to produce a major concert event that would be free to attend, and to leave minimal environmental impact in our passing.
The beta Greenerfest used only solar power, and all the operations were achieved using cleaner, green methods.
The first Greenerfest was held at Venice Beach, Ca.
We had 54 vendors and 10 sponsors, and estimate that nearly 20,000 people passed through Greenerfest.
We had world class entertainment and musical performances which included: Mitch Margo ( of The Tokens ) who performed his timeless classic “The Lion Sleeps Tonight”; the blues stylings of Todd Wolfe, grammy award winning guitarist for Sheryl Crowe; rap and hip hop from Thin C of Mo Thug Family; and Anthony Aquarius Mystery performed an incredible Jimi Hendrix tribute. Many local bands and artists also performed. Bone Thugs N Harmony member Layzie Bone appeared in public service announcements to promote Greenerfest and encourage the hip hop community to come and be peaceful at a fun family event. As a result of this campaign, we were able to insure a hip hop performance, and had a fun peaceful event without any of the problems often associated with rap music.
Greenerfest was streamed live to the Internet, and people from all across the planet were able to virtually attend the festival. Video footage of that event will be featured in a series of DVD video titles that Greenerfest Events will be releasing in the future.
Last year we were able to break new ground on what a Green festival should be. Vendors sold products to help people go green, and educate festival goers of all walks of life on new ways to conserve energy, recycle and compost waste, and use alternate sources to make everyday products. Greenerfest also used solar power to minimize the environmental impact of a large concert festival event.
Our Waste Management/Resource Recovery team collected all the waste and litter in the area and sorted it into 3 categories:
We used this Waste Management/Resource Recovery effort to educate attendees how to minimize landfill waste and encourage recycling and composting.
We are now looking to expand and build on the success of our initial event, reaching out to more vendors, conservation experts, and open-minded members of the community. Greenerfest will span over the course of two days, featuring twice as many speakers and a larger variety of performers.
